DAVID ROBERTS was born 27 Feb 1804 in Cumberland County, Kentucky, and died 09 Aug 1861 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He is buried in the old Sand Lick cemetery on farm once owned by Lillian Johnson, near Sand Lick Church and Creek, Green County.He married SUSANNA (SOOKY) THOMPSON 24 Feb 1824 in Green County, Kentucky, daughter of DRURY THOMPSON and LUCY ?. She was born 1809 in Kentucky, and died Aft. 1870 in Green County, Kentucky. She is buried in the old Sand Lick cemetery .

David was a son of Jesse J. Roberts, who was born 1778, and who came to Green County, Kentucky from Russell County, Virginia, by way of Cumberland County, Kentucky. David's mother was Mary Polly Skaggs, b. 1779. On June 1, 1860 she was living with her grandson, Richard Roberts in Bloomington Township, Buchanan County, Missouri. At that time she was 80 years old and a widow. Jesse died 1857 and is buried in Sand Lick Cemetery. His burial site is unknown but is probably near his son, David.

David and Susanna Thompson Roberts had 10 children: Jesse R. Roberts, b. 1829, d. 1864 during the CW. He married Cynthia A. Shofner Emily Roberts, b. 4 Oct 1829, d. 31 Mar 1873. She married Robert H. Shofner Nancy Roberts, b. 1832, d. 18 Dec 1954 Drury Roberts, b. 1834 Mary Polly Ann Roberts, b. 1835. She married Thomas S. Thompson Sally Roberts, b. 1841. She married George W. Chaney Margaret Roberts, b. 1844. She married William H. Thompson Rebecca Jane Roberts, b. 1847. She married Gidion H. Linville John Roberts, b. 1847 James Roberts, b. 1849

In the 1850 Taylor County, Kentucky census David Roberts is head of household 233. He is 45 years of age, a farmer, born in Kentucky. His wife, Susanna, is 41 and also born in Kentucky as were all their children: Nancy, 18; Drewry, 16; Polly A., 15; Sally, 9; Margaret, 6; Rebecca J., 3; John, 3; and James Roberts, age 1 year. They lived next door to Nancy Thompson, age 27, who was head of household 234.

After Debts are paid, my whole estate goes to my wife, SUSAN ROBERTS, during her lifetime or widowhood. At the death or marriage of my wife, my estate is to be sold and and equal distribution of the proceeds is to be made between my children: JESSE ROBERTS, EMILY SHOFNER, DRURY ROBERTS, MARY ANN THOMPSON, SALLY CHANEY, MARGARET ROBERTS and REBECCA JANE ROBERTS. My grandson, J. T. ROBERTS, shall have a horse, bridle and saddle and 1 good cow. To my daughters, MARGARET and REBECCA JANE, 1 bed and furniture, 1 milk cow, 1 cow and calf each, when they marry. this property is to be set aside before the sell of anything. Son JESSE R. In the 1870 Taylor County Census, Saloma District, Susan (sic) was a widow and head of family #13. She was 62 years old. She had two children listed but they were her grandchildren: Bettie Roberts, age 14; and Drury Roberts, age 12 years.
