David Chesterman Van Brunt
The memorial service for David Chesterman Van Brunt will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Living Waters Foursquare Church in Medford [Oregon]. Pastor Verl Simpson will officiate.
Mr. Van Brunt, 85, of Central Point, [Oregon,] died Tuesday [Sept. 10, 2002] at his home.

He was born Jan. 19, 1917, in New York City, to Arthur Hoffman and Ethel Edson Van Brunt. He was the grandson of the late Judge Charles M. Van Brunt, presiding justice of the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court, which he had founded, and the late Franklin Edson, former mayor of New York City, who served during and at the dedication of the Brooklyn Bridge.
On June 19, 1968, in Honolulu, he married Jane Green Allen, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1979 from Honolulu.
During World War II, Mr. Van Brunt served in the Naval Reserve.
He was the supervisor of maintenance at Pan American World Airways, retiring in 1978, after working 40 years.
Mr. Van Brunt worked on the Civil Service Commission for Fire District No. 3, Fire District No. 4, Fire District No. 5, and also on the budget committee for Fire District No. 3, and served a term on the board of directors for Fire District No. 3.
He was a member of Living Waters Foursquare Church, the Covered Bridge Society, the Lighthouse Society, the Old Westbury Civic Association and the Old Westbury Planning Board from 1964 to 1968 on Long Island.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Lisa Ruth Morris, Ashland; two sons, Michael D., Medford, and Jeffrey D., Salt Lake City; five granddaughters; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Van Brunt Comstock; and two brothers, Arthur Hoffman Jr. and Edson.
