Obituary:
Delbert A. Maunu, a longtime farmer, died June 17, 1996, in his Lafayette home at age 89.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, in the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Tualatin. A graveside service will be later in the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in Savo Township, S.D.
Mr. Maunu was born Feb. 26, 1907, in Liberty Township, S.D. He was reared in Hecla, S.D., and got machinist training in Kansas City, Mo. He married Sigrid Groop in 1930, and they lived in South Dakota for 28 years. They moved to Minnesota for seven years before retiring to Lafayette. He also did maintenance work at the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Portland and was a machinist for Precision Products in Gresham.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Clifford of Raymond, Wash., David of Portland and Jimmy of Sherwood; daughters, Ethel Moser of Spokane, Kathleen Barney of Esko, Minn., and Lorinda Lappi of Hillsboro; brother, Leonard of Peoria, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
