Delila Adeline McPherson was born 12 Jun 1824 in Alabama. Thought to be the 5th of 13 children born to Reuben McPherson and Elizabeth Rash.

Delila married James John Nichols in about 1844 in Carroll County, Arkansas, and they had 9 known children: William L.; John B.; Joseph Alexander; David Crockett; George Matthew; Sarah Carolyn; James; Martha A.; and Thomas.

James John Nichols was thought to have been murdered by Alf Bolen as he worked his grinding stone sometime during the early 1860s. On 23 Jun 1867, Delila married Thomas Staggs Curtis in Newton County, Arkansas. Thomas died sometime before 1880 as Delila was listed as widowed in her son-in-law, Jasper Lee's, household.

Delila passed away on 11 Jan 1893 in Newton County and was buried in the Curtis Cemetery.
