Della Mae Veazey Arceneaux, 77, a native of Gibson and resident of Thibodaux, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006.

Funeral services were held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Gibson, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Paul Arceneaux; five sons, Henry Arceneaux Jr. and wife, Bernitta, of Kaplan, Richard Arceneaux of Morrilton, Ark., Roger "Ace" Arceneaux and wife, Debbie, of Belle River, James "JC" Arceneaux and wife, Paula, of New Iberia, and Numa Arceneaux and wife, Tammie, of Thibodaux; three daughters, Elizabeth Falgout and husband, Phillip, of Thibodaux, Della Jane Breaux and husband, James, of Abbeville and Paula Ann Miller and husband, Paul, of Patterson; two sisters, Margaret Harris and Lula Justilian; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Numa and Maya Marceaux Veazey; five brothers, Richard, Johnny, Eddie, Cecil and Joseph "Junior" Veazey; one sister, Audrey Landry; and one grandchild, Marcus Shelby Arceneaux.

She was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, a member of the Alter Society, was honored as a Gold Star Mother, Queen Mother of the Mystic Krewe de Fou of Iberia and a member of Eastern Star.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed gardening, crafts, hummingbirds and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
