NOTES FROM RL MOON
Dillon Blevins was the oldest son of John Blevins and Catherine Cox of Grayson County, VA, proven by John Blevins' family Bible (reportedly in the possession of a descendant).
According to the Bible record, "Dillen Blevins" was born "the 18th day of May in the year of our Lord, 1789." Dillon Blevins also left a Latin dictionary which gives his birthdate as May 14, 1789.

Dillon Blevins' date of death is not known, but his estate was appraised in May 1817 in Grayson County, VA.

The unusual name "Dillon" or "Dillen" first appears in the Blevins family in the mid-18th century.
Dillon Blevins may have had a great-uncle (John Blevins, brother of Dillon's grandfather James Blevins, Sr.) who married a woman named Sarah DILLON.

There seems to be relatively little information about Dillon Blevins.
In 1809 he appears on a list of men in Grayson County, VA, who were delinquent in their militia duties.
He also appears on the 1813 Tax List of Grayson County with 1 white tithe and 2 horses.

Dillon Blevins appears to have died in early 1817. Purchasers at his estate sale in May 1817 included Polly BLEVINS, David BLEVINS, Jacob ROBERDS, Andrew WELCH and Chesley WARD, for a total of $238.24.
The bulk of the estate was purchased by Polly BLEVINS.
The property was cried off by Richard COX. Sam COX, clerk. (Grayson Co., VA, WB 1, pp. 109, 132; return dated May 28, 1817.)

Dillon's widow, Polly, may have remarried to William HARDIN.
On Mar. 29, 1836, Chesley CHEEK purchased 33 acres of land in Ashe County, NC, from the "heirs of William HARDIN" who are identified as Polly HARDIN, John BLEVINS, Elizabeth HARDIN, and Eli WILSON and his wife Charity WILSON.
A reasonable interpretation of this deed is that Polly HARDIN was William HARDIN's widow and John BLEVINS was her son by her first marriage.
Elizabeth HARDIN and Charity WILSON (wife of Eli WILSON) were presumably William HARDIN's daughters.
William HARDIN's land was located on the Little River in Ashe (Alleghany) County (see e.g., land grant to Linville HIGGINS dated Dec. 20, 1838, for 50 acres on Little River on William HARDIN's line).
This is the same area where Dillon's son John J. Blevins and his family lived.

Dillon had a Latin dictionary in which he recorded his birth, his marriage to Polly and the births of his two children.
The following is reportedly a transcription of the book.
