Dollie B. Zimmerman (Whaley)

The daughter of Samuel John "Sam" Whaley and Rosa "Rosie" Kean, Dollie and her siblings lived with her mother and step-father, Cleveland "Cleve" Bogue in Madison County, Illinois.

Dollie married Nathan George Zimmerman on 18 Aug 1917 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the father of 2 children from a previous marriage.

Dollie and Nathan were the parents of 6 children, although 4 of them--Clarence, Rosa, Mary and Paul--died in infancy or very early childhood.

Nathan worked as a stone mason and as a river ferryman.

At the time of her death at Alton Memorial Hospital, Dollie was 58 years, 1 month and 21 days old.

She was survived by her husband, Nathan; 2 sons, Claude Zimmerman of Seattle, Washington, and Larry Zimmerman of Alton, Illinois; 1 step-daughter; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Allie Dean of St. Louis, Missouri, and Gracie Callaway of Grafton, Illinois; and 1 brother, Joe Whaley of Alton.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Funeral services were conducted on the afternoon of 18 May 1958 at the Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville, Illinois.

Dollie's husband, Nathan, passed away in 1963 and was buried next to her.

Children: 1 step-son, 1 step-daughter, 4 sons, 2 daughters.
