In 1881 Horace's Brother Judge Bancroft Davis did a search in England. What was searched is the following: Will proved in Rochester; wills proved in London; calendars of wills proved in the Archdeacon's Court at Canterbury; persons assessed to the king's subsidies in Kent; and Bancroft found nothing about Dolor but lots of other Davis's. In Mr. Savage, in his "Genealogical Dictionary'" he admits the probability of Davis's Kentish origins, but states that Dr. Palfrey assures him that the names of Davis's ancestors are to be found on the stones in the graveyard at Benefield, in Northamptonshire. A careful search by the Rev. Edward M Moore, the courteous rector of that parish, has disproved this statement, and Mr. Moore's letter to that effect is to be found in the January, 1880, number of the "New England Historical and Genealogical Register.' So the best I can come up with is that Dolor was probably born in Kent County possibly Horsmonden because his wife Margery was born there.
I would disconnect Nicholas from Dolor due to the lack of evidence as to what exactly his relationship ever is. The only hope I can hold out is that if ever any one ever goes to England and goes to Kent County to Horsmonden Parish and the surrounding area and go threw Church records there possibly can find birth, Marriage, death records of Dolors Family.
