About Domenico Massucco
Dominic Massucco, age fifty, lost his footing as he started down a ladder at the No. 12 South Hecla shaft one November day in 1887; he fell about a thousand feet to the bottom of the shaft. “Being instantly killed.” He had worked at the mine only nine days, having come from Negaunee. Only six months earlier, he had emigrated from Italy, where he left a wife and seven children. He was buried in Calumet.
Dominic Massocco, an Italian miner, aged about 50 years old, died due to a mine accident at the Calumet and Hecla mine at Calumet. He leaves a wife and 7 children in Italy. He was buried in the Lake Linden Catholic cemetery.
