About Donald Reeder Jeffs

Donald Reeder Jeffs passed away on May 2, 2014 at the age of ninety-three due to complications from a stroke.

He was born in Logan, Utah on May 2, 1921 to Samuel and Rose Reeder Jeffs.

His early life through college was spent in Logan, Utah. During WWII he served in the Army and was stationed in New Guinea.

He married Anna Lou Giles on August 16, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He received a degree in Civil Engineering from Utah State University and an Education Certificate from the University of Utah. He worked for the California State Water Board while living in Sacramento, California.

In 1965, he moved his family to Logan, Utah, where he was employed at Utah State Water Research Lab. He left his employment in 1971 to join his wife as co-director of Carden Memorial School, which she had founded in 1969 in Salt Lake City.

Although he had retired as Headmaster and Director of the school, he continued to help with administration, maintenance and led the eighth grade students on an annual American History Tour for the past thirty years. This year is the first year he is unable to go.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his love of the Savior and service to others guided his life.

Classical music, appreciation of art, patriotism, and a love of America and its history have inspired family, students, and all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Anna Lou; four children, Laura Brown(Bruce), Vaughan Lawrence Jeffs, Louann Jeffs, and Shannon Westover (Kerry); nineteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
