Enlisted in the Marines Corps, and was sent over seas to be a gunner on the B-47. On a training practice run his 20 Cal. Machine gun, on board the B-47, exploded causing injury to his eyes. He was grounded to the Air base, where was assigned to the Ordinance Division, He remained on Base repairing 45 Cal. Pistols, and the M1 carbine rifles. He also worked on the 50 Cal. Machine guns aboard the P-51 Mustangs, and aligned all guns to hit the same target at a 1,000 yards. He received various metals and awards, including a suburb marksman ship.
