Donna Vander C Lee

Mrs. Donna Vander Lee, age 78, of Grand Haven passed away Sunday, 26 Feb 2012. She was born 14Dec 1933 in Holland to Dick and Willemena (Spoelma) Brouwer.

Donna worked at Jobbers Market where she met her husband of 54 years. After marriage, she remained a h omemaker raising her four children. She loved spending her days and evenings with her family. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Her children and grandchildren could always count on getting a new pair of knitted slippers for Christmas. Donna also enjoyed word find and crossword puzzles. She also loved to garden. Donna and Stuart enjoyed riding their bikes throughout Grand Haven whenever the weather was favorable. She loved coffee with her dear sister, Patricia and her wonderful best friend, Nanci. Donna's life was her home, husband, children and grandchildren. Family was extremely important to her and her faith in God made our home a beautiful place to be raised in and live in the Lord. There was always laughter and love. She will be greatly missed on this earth, but we all know Mom is singing with the angels and meeting her heavenly father while joining her parents, sister, and brother whom she deeply missed since their deaths. We know we will all join her again in our heavenly home.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at Sanctuary at the Shore and Hospice of North Ottawa Community for their kindness and excellent care of our mother for the past 13 months. We knew she was in excellent hands. She will always be remembered by the staff for her beautiful smile.

We love you, Mom. Thank you for being the beautiful, wonderful, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that you were. You have taught us well and we are proud to call you our mom.

On 27 June 1957, she married Stuart Vander Lee Jr. in Grand Haven and he survives her along with 4 children: Sharon (Clifford) Gerrish, Richard (Lisa) Vander Lee, Gary (Dawn) Vander Lee and Douglas (Kendra) Vander Lee; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way. She is also survived by 1 brother, Ronald (Carol) Brouwer; 1 brother-in-law, Richard Tubbs. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Alvin Brouwer; 1 sister, Patricia Tubbs; 1 sister-in-law, Phyllis Brouwer; 1 great-grandchild and many other relatives.

Funeral services for Donna will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, 1 Mar 2012 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Richard J. Hamstra officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
