- The (Wagga Wagga) Daily Advertiser, of Monday, Sept. 13, 1943: "Vyvyan Holland, who is the son of Oscar Wilde, but who, since childhood, has not used his father's surname, was married to Thelma Besant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Besant, of Burwood, Melbourne, at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster, on Saturday. Mr. Holland is a translator of considerable note, especially of Paul Morand's books. Miss Besant, who before the war lectured throughout Australia, is now manager of a London salon. She was given away by the managing director, Mr. G.H. Forsythe. The best man was Lord Birkenhead. Flying-Officer Roderick Hilton, from Adelaide, was among the groomsmen.
