About Doris Roller

We believe Aunt Doris was in a relationship in the early 1920's and then left or got divorced. She was living with her parents until 1920, but moved to Sumerville, Mass in 1924. According to Barbara Rubin (Roller), her relations with her parents were strained after 1920 and Doris boarded with Bertha Robbins (Myers) after the brief failed marriage or liaison. Nobody knows the details about that relationship because Barbara Rubin (Roller)'s father never discussed it & Doris never revealed anything to the family on her own.

Doris emigrated from Zaleszczyki, Rejon zaleszczycki, Obwód tarnopolski in 1899 (1900 Census), Ukraine (at the time in the Austria Hungary empire). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zalishchyky. Family lore has the family passing through Vienna at some point, as there is a picture of Doris Roller labeled as taken in Vienna. The Hilfsverin in Vienna assisted Zaleshchiki's Jews, but most of the 123 Jewish women employed left, so it is possible that someone in Doris' family worked there.
