"Dr. Alvin Scott Aldrich, 94, died on August 28, 2015. Born July 13, 1921, in Philadelphia, he grew up in Boston, attending Roxbury Latin High School and Harvard College. During World War II, he served in the Navy Medical Corps. After earning an M.D. from Harvard in 1946, he finished a residency in Minneapolis. In 1953 he moved to Cheyenne. There he served as a surgeon and later as chief of staff for the Veterans Administration Hospital, retiring in 1981. In Cheyenne he met and married Annette Edwards, a Florida native who made Wyoming her home. Al and Annette had three children: Amy, Adele, and Andrew. The family was active in the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Cheyenne and enjoyed the outdoors. Al skied Nordic trails near Cheyenne well into his 80s. A thoughtful and principled man, he earned the respect of all who knew him. Al and his family lost Annette in 2008.
He is survived by his children; his grandchildren, Abigayle Paytoe Gbayee and Adrielle Aldrich; and his great-grandchildren, Victor Swarraydeen, Annette Geela Paytoe Gbayee, and David Aldrich Paytoe.
The family will celebrate his life at 10:00 am, September 8, at the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Cheyenne."
