About Dr. Daniel Moses Levy Maduro Peixotto
Daniel came as a boy to New York with his parents, graduated from Columbia at age 16, and received his M.D. at age 19! See his biography in http://www.famousamericans.net/daniellevymaduropeixotto/ and in ancestry.com.
He was one of the founders of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, and author of several professional and literary articles. He was President of the New York Medical Society from 1830-2, and of the Willoughby Medical College in Cleveland, Ohio. He campaigned actively for President Andrew Jackson, a personal friend, and supposedly spoke at least seven languages fluently. (from _Bio. History of Westchester County_, p. 764)
