Dr Edward NELSON Davis

Daily Telegraph - Jan 25, 1919 Surrounded by the immediate friends of the family, Dr Edward N Davis passed away at his residence, 45 Elliot Row at 1:15 this morning. Dr Davis has been one of the leading dentists of St John for the last thirty years. He was born at Springfield, Kings Co on Oct 22, 1857, and was a son of the late John Davis. About six years ago he was forced to give up active work on account of failing health, but for the last two years has been with Dr McKnight, of the Maritime Dental Parlors, Charlotte St. Seven weeks ago he gave up his position and since that time has been confined to the house, until the end came peacefully early this morning. He was a life long member of the Royal Templars of Temperance, a member of Court Martello, I.O.O.F., and a trustee of the Central Baptist Church. In 1882 he married Evelyn L, daughter of Mr and Mrs Elisha Cosman of this city and she with one daughter and one son are left to mourn. The daughter, Mrs Hartley Wanamaker, resides in the city; and the son Edwin C, is studying medicine at Dalhousie University, Halifax, and has only recently returned from the Royal Air Force at Toronto. Dr Davis also leaves two brothers and three sisters. The brothers are; A W Davis, manager of the Sackville Paper Box Company, and C D Davis of Springfield. The sisters are Mrs A W Jones and Mrs C J Cain of Hatfield Point and Mrs J D Wetmore of Fredericton Junction.
