Dr. Eugene John Weigel, Jr.

Your Father Eugene J. Jr. started working very young. At the age of 11 he sold part time, magazines (Life & Look) in a linen bag. He had two Newspapers routs up to 13 years old. At the age of 13 years old he worked in the record room at the O.S.U.hospital (he lied about his age) until he was 15 years old. At the age of 15 & 16 (1948 & 1949) he worked for two years for the Ohio Fuel & Gass Co., did hard labor to build up his muscles. At the age of 17 he worked at the Radiology department filing etc. at O.S.U Hospital. At age 18, (1951-1952) O.S.U. Radiology. During summer of 1953 he worked as surgical nurse at O.S.U. Hospital. Summer of 1954 he went to Salvridge Airforce Base in Michigan for R.O.T.C. Before he left he painted at O.S.U. Summer of 1955 he worked at U.S. Steel in Lorain, Ohio as a mill burner. Summer of 1956 he worked for Spangs Bakery in Cleveland. In the Fall he worked for Sterling Linder Davis Co., on delinquent accounts. Summer of 1957 he worked as a painter for Western Reserve University and got married August 10, 1957. At Christmas worked as a Mailman. 1958 he worked as a mailman during the summer and Christmas. 1959 Dad graduated from Dental School and went into the Navy to Chelsea Naval Hospital in Massachusetts. In 1962 Dad went out of the Navy and started a private practice in Arlington, Vermont. In 1964 Dad reentered the Navy at Portsmouth, Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia., after three months he was sent to the Naval Dental Clinic at Pearl harbor and then sent to Ford Island Dental Clinic of which he was in charge. In 1967 Dad got out of the Navy for good and started a private practice in Wilmington, Vermont. In 1977 Dad joined Dr. Richard Bush in his practice in Pennsylvania.The economy became bad so dad decided to work for the Civil Service as a Dentist in 1981 in Ford Belvoir (Army). We moved to Spotsylvania that year. We bought a house in the year 1984 in Indian Neck, Essex County, Virginia., called Liberty Hall. In August 1988 Dad was sent to the Frankfurt Army Dental Clinic., in Frankfurt, Germany. We came home to Liberty Hall in April 1991. In 1991 Dad retired from the Civil Service for medical reasons.
