Taken from "Reed-Meek History, Through The Years" by Annie Reed-Royer:
" Dr. James Meek Sheppard and Dr. Julius Kelly Sheppard II practiced in El Dorado many years. Dr. J.M. Sheppard is well remembered by the older members of the First Baptist Church on El Dorado where he served as a deacon for more than thirty years. He is also remembered for his many charitable deeds. He served on the school board for many years.
"Dr. Julius Kelly Sheppard II lived in [Haughton] Louisiana for a number of years before moving [back to Union County and] to El Dorado. While living in Louisiana, he met and courted school teacher Mary Audrey Murff. [They were married 29 August 1904 in Holmes County, Mississippi, where she lived as a child. They were the parents of two sons.] He was a member of the First Methodist Church in El Dorado and was also very generous with his time and means and was greatly loved by his many patients. [Dr. Pete, as he was known, died 12 May 1931.] He left two sons who also became physicians. Dr. Julius Kelly Sheppard III who died in 1963 and some of his family still lives in El Dorado where he practiced [with his brother jack] until his death. Dr. Jack Murff Sheppard, the other son, also has [had] a large practice in El Dorado. Dr. Jack died [in January 1973 due to a surgical error]. [Several of Dr. Jack's children iive in El Dorado."
