About Dr. Llewellyn Eugene Luján
LLEWELLYN EUGENE LUJAN Llewellyn Eugene (Buddy) Lujan, 81, lifelong New Mexico resident, died peacefully at his home in Rio Rancho on March 22, 2011, following a brief illness. Buddy was born on November 28, 1929 in Albuquerque. He attended University of New Mexico and graduated from Creighton University in Nebraska and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of Kansas in 1956. Following dental school, Buddy returned to New Mexico and practiced dentistry at one of the first public health dental clinics in New Mexico and continued his public service to disabled and under-privileged children until his 80th birthday. Buddy lived life to the fullest and was known for his sense of humor and for doing things his own way. He was a friend to everyone, an accomplished athlete and loved his flower gardens. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sonja Lujan; daughter, Michelle Lujan Grisham; son, Gregory Lujan; grandchildren: Taylor Grisham, Erin Grisham, Chantel Lujan, Tony Lujan and Ryan Lujan; his sister, Eileen Mead; his sisters-in-law: Cheryl Bill and husband Geoffrey of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Sally Burt and husband Steve of Atlanta, GA, Sue Wolfe and husband George of Alabama. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly; parents, former NM Supreme Court Justice Eugene David Lujan and Rita Pino Lujan; in-laws: Lt. Col. Lawrence Jackson and Betty Jackson; his son-in-law, Gregory Grisham; and brother-in-law Robert Mead. True to form, he is doing his Internment before the Mass. A rosary will be recited for Buddy at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church 1120 Canyon Road, Santa Fe. Internment will take place Friday March 25, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe followed by Holy Mass at St. Francis Cathedral at noon. A reception will follow at Vanessie's Restaurant at 434 West San Francisco, Santa Fe. Honorary pallbearers are: Amado Summers, Ralph Brutche, Jim White, Bill Dixon, Harry Georgeades, Gary Stramel, Harlin Flint and William Field.
