Dr. Mohandas Nalapat

Dr.N.MOHANDAS (12.09.29 – 09.05.90) Born into an illustrious family of writer’s in a village called Punnayurkulam 6 Kms. From Guruvayoor. His father was late V.M.Nair Managing Director & Editor of Mathrubhoomi, and Mother the famous poetess Nalapat Balamani Amma. He had his early education in the village school and passed S.S.L.C. from kunnamkulam High School standing first in the examination. He took his intermediate from St.Xaviers, Calcutta and M.B.B.S. from Madras Medical College, Madras. He took his fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edin). Returned to India and joined the Kerala Health Service as Surgeon,General Hospital, Calicut. Few years later he left it and started his own practice. Between 1975 & 1977 he worked as Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Pahlavi University, Shiraz, Iran. He as a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Calicut and for 13 years he was consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at P.V.S. Hospital ,Calicut till his death. Positions Held : He was a fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association, Fellow- International College of Surgeons, Fellow- Academy of Medical Specialists, Member- Governing Council Association of Surgeons of India, Executive Committee Member, Indian Orthopaedic Association. Apart from that he was the Jaycee President, Jaycee Senator, President- Rotary Club of Calicut East.
