St Martin in the Fields: ground in Leicester Field, late parcel of leicester House garden, fronting N on Sydney St. E-W 16'6", and backwards from st., 32'6", with mess. and tenement, etc., erected/to be erected thereon. Abuttals given. Consideration: £103.

Will dated 1697 is available from National Archives. Peter Sainthill (known as Peter St Hill) died a wealthy man, leaving several houses and extensive land to his many children.

To my wife Margaret my farm called Burtons, Ledbury, Herefordshire now in occupation of Thomas Dalley and also the rents of three small parcels of land which I late bought, one of meadow (1 acres) which I bought from Thomas Vobe of Ledbury in a meadow called Bakers Pleck and the other two are copyhold land late of John Sermon contracted with George Bennett and surrendered by Charles Whittaker of 'Poikin' [? Powick], Worcestershire, one being 1 acres meadow ground in the Hom called the Clay Pit Meadow and 2 acres of arable land in Henfield, also my farm called Arnolds, East and West Hanningfield, Essex or any other parish in Essex now in occupation of Jacob Page; after the death of my wife to my son Gilbert and if he dies without issue to my younger son Peter; to my son Peter my freehold houses in Whitechapel and Wapping after 25 years after my death and then he to pay 20 p.a. to my son Gilbert in my wife's life; to my daughter Ruth Saint Hill my three leases, viz. one of 2 houses adjoining to Carpenters' Hall now in occupation of Mr Gittens and the other in occupation of Mr David Thomas and another lease for 2 houses from the Carpenters' Company and adjoining the other, one house in occupation of widow Woodford and other in occupation of Mr de Gools and another lease from the City in St James Duke's Place near Aldgate being of one house in occupation of Joseph Levi; to my daughter Ruth 200; to my daughter Deborah Saint Hill my two leases of the ground rent of two houses which I bought from Cadaghan Thomas in Soho Square, Soho and now in occupation of Thomas Chambers, esquire and 150; to my eldest son Gilbert 200 and my youngest son Peter 100 to apprentice them; residue to bring up my sons and 4 youngest daughters Dorcas, Margaret, Dionisia and Hannah and paying 25 to my eldest son Gilbert left by my father; I except from my personal estate my pearl necklace which to be sold; to my wife her watch and jewels and all my household goods; cousin Nehemiah Bourne of Epsom, Surrey, brother John Wiltshire of Bromley, Kent, Mr John Clayton, sailmaker in St Katharine by the Tower and my wife Margaret, execs. (5 each) paying to my son Gilbert 20 p.a. in my wife's life

Codicil 6 Dec 1697: if my son dies without issue my two farms, viz. Burtons, Herefordshire and Arnolls, Essex to be divided among my 4 daughters and my freehold land in Wapping to be divided between my daughters Ruth, Deborah, Dorcas, Margaret, Dionisia and Hannah; considering the smallness of my daughter Deborah's present income my lease of the Carpenters Company of two brick houses settled on my daughter Ruth to be charged with 5 p.a. for 5 years
