Dr Simeon Field, Jr

aged 57 [from "History of Enfield," Vol. III, by Francis Olcott Allen, c. 1900, page 2335] [His unique epitaph is noted March 8, 1914-03-08 edition of the Trenton Evening Times.

"Man giveth up the ghost and where is he? The life is gone, the breath is fled And what has been no more shall be The well know form, the welcome tread, O! where are they? and where is he?

Dr. Field's obituary dated March 19, 1822 in the Connecticut Courant read: At Enfield, on the 1st inst. after a languishment of several months, Dr. Simeon Field, for many years distinguished for his valuable professional services in that town and vicinity. The public sustains in his death the loss of an active and useful member, and the poor friend and benefactor. Though possessed of uncommon general and medical science, he was far from arrogantly boasting of his own skill and success as a physician, but left his merits to be determined by the sober judgement of his numerous employers.
