Michs. 1772; Scholar; B.A. (5th Wrangler) 1776; M.A. 1779 B.D. 1786 D.D. 1801 Fellow, 1776-89. Preceptor to the sons of George III 1780. Rector of St Peter and St Mary Forncett Norfolk, 1788-1804. Canon of Windsor 1792-1820. Rector of Binfield Berks 1804-20. Rector of West Ilsley 1808-20. Married Dorothy, dau. of John Cowper Rector of Penrith Oct 17th 1788 His sister Anne was mother of the poet Wordsworth, and he himself was the father of George (1812) and Christopher (1808) Cookson.
