Ernst Haase was born in 1894 as the son of the lawyer and politician Hugo Haase and his wife Thea Lichtenstein (1869–1937), a sister of Max Lichtenstein . Hugo Haase was one of the two chairmen of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) from 1911 to 1916 and from 1917 chairman of the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD). In 1919 he was victim of a political assassination attempt.
Haase studied medicine and was an assistant doctor at the Moabit Hospital in Berlin [1] and then worked as a ward physician. [2] He focused on the treatment of addicts and youth counseling [3] and was trained in Vienna in the field of psychotherapeutic treatment methods and psychoanalysis. [1] From 1929 he worked as head of the welfare office for alcoholics and poison addicts at health department Tiergarten and from 1930 to 1932 he was senior physician at the Neurology Department of the Hospital Moabit, after he left the hospital and only worked in the dispensary. [3]The facility was closed in the spring of 1933 and Haase lost his offices due to his Jewish descent when the National Socialists came to power . His license to practice medicine was revoked in 1938 and in March of that year he emigrated to England and in 1940 to Chicago , where he worked as a neurologist. [3] [1]

Haase was one of the so-called Old Eagles , the 817 aviation pioneers who passed the pilot's exam even before the outbreak of World War I.
H. came to the Moabit Context: Moabit HospitalHospital as an assistant doctor in 1923 . After continuing his training in the field of psychotherapeutic treatment methods and psychoanalysis in Vienna, he worked from 1929 as head of the welfare office for alcoholics and poison addicts at the Tiergarten health department. From 1930 to 1932 he was a senior physician in the neurological department of Moabit Hospital. In 1933 he was removed from office due to his Jewish origin and his license to practice medicine was revoked in 1938. In the same year he emigrated to England and in 1940 emigrated to America. In the Moabit hospital, H. is also remembered on a plaque for the Jewish doctors who worked here.
