About Dr. med. Eugen Isaak Neter
Eugen was a renowned physician and pediatrician in Germany. Together with Dr. Mendelson and Dr. Einstein, who he met in Berlin, they taught many of the German physicians in the early 1900's. Eugen had a large clinic in Mannheim and following the rise of the Nazi regime, Eugen became a prominent leader of the Jewish community in Mannheim. Together with other community members he was taken to the Gurs concentration camp. Following his release and immigration to Israel, Eugen remained dedicated to the Manheim community, and many of the German refugees in Israel came to see him and get his advice while he was in Degania. In the morning Eugen collected eggs while in the afternoon he met his many visitors and friends. (contributed by his granddaughters Zmira and Ofra).
Ging freiwillig als Arzt mit den abtransportierten Israelitischen Pfalz, Baden nach dem Konzentrations Lager Gurs Suedfrankreich als Parnes der Gemeinde Mannheim hielt er es als seine Pflicht. Die Frau blieb in Mannheim.
