The village of Kilninian stands on the west coast of the Isleof Mull, looking out over Loch Tuath towards the island of Ulva. Kilninian Church was built in 1755. <ref>http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/mull/kilninianchurch/index.html.</ref> Duncan McCallum and Catherine Ferguson married 7 February 1808 on the Isle of Mull. They and their family (under the name McKallum) arrived in Australia on "The British King" on 2 February 1839. Two more daughters arrived on "Sir John Falstaff" on 13 April 1841. <ref> Shipping records. </ref>
