Earl L. Olson, 76, prominent former harware dealer in Park River, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 1990, at St. Ansgars Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Olson were held on Wednesday, March 14 at 2 p.m. from Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Lon Stenerson, John Hillis, William Kennedy, Alan Shortridge, Duane Schuler and Jeffrey Haug.

Earl Olson was born Jan. 08, 1914, in Park River, ND. He was the son of O. P. and Helena Arnegard Olson. He received his education in Park River, graduating in 1932.

Earl wed Helen Elizabeth Grant on June 23, 1946 at Valley City, ND. She preceded him in death on May 23, 1950. Mr. Olson then wed Alice Shortridge on January 23, 1952 in Calvin, ND.

Following high school, Mr. Olson went into the hardware business with his father and operated O. P. Olson Hardware Store in Park River until 1966, then he sold insurance with Modern Woodsman of America until he retired in 1982. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran church.

Survived by his wife, Alice; two daughters, Joanne, New York City, NY; and Mrs. Fred (Earlene) Guinn of Washington, DC; 3 grandchildren: Kendal, Marlon and Torrey; 3 sisters: Mandy, Lila and Donah.

Preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, Ernest, one sister, Inez and one grand-daughter.
