Some Ancestral Lines came to Rochester in 1724, later to North Dartmouth, Mass.; buried in White Cemetery at East Freetown. Some Ancestral Lines -Genealogy Library.com mar. date:Family Archive #231 Marriage Index: Massachusetts, 1633-1850 I understand that he married Mercy Whitridge (one of several spellings) in 1730 in Rochester. Can anyone tell me more about her? It appears she died shortly after the wedding since it seems that Ebenezer married a woman named Nancy. I thought that Mercy was the mother of Ebenezer Jr. (b. 1736, Dartmouth) and Rebecca (b. 1741, Pembroke?). However, according to some kind soul, Rochester Vital Records show that Ebenezer Jr. was baptized in 1737, and the son of Ebenezer Sr. and Nancy (C.R.I.). Does anyone know who this Nancy was? When did she and Eb Sr. marry? When was she born? When did she die? This doesn't really answer your question, but I have a copy of the certificate of marriage for Ebenezer Keen and Mary Whitridge. Unfortunatley their parents and ages aren't mentioned. Just that they were married in Rochester, Massachusetts on December 31, 1730 by Rev. Timothy Ruggles. This was taken from town records. Matthew and Martha, July 9, 1707. The Rochester Vital Records, page 193, shows this marriage: KEEN, Ebenezer [int. Ebene[ze]r Cain] and Mary Whiteredge [int. Marcy Whittrage], Dec. 31, 1730. [Ebenezer Keen and Mercy Whiteridge, P.C.R.] On page 192 it shows the baptism of two children: KEEN, Ebenezer, s. Ebenezer and Nancy, bp. June 19, 1737, C.R.1. KEEN, William, s. Ebenezer and Mercy, bp. Dec. 23, 1739, C.R.1. Also in the Pembroke Vital Records there is the birth of: CAIN, Peleg, s. Ebenezer and Mary, Dec. 27, 1756. I suspect that Mary, Marcy, Mercy and Nancy are all the same woman. Sources
