About Ebenezer Lewes, Esq.

Ebenezer Lewes, Esq., was the son of Lieut. James Lewes. A man of wealth, he was one of the most active and intelligent business men of his time. He was a Judge of the Common Pleas Court, and held many municipal offices.

Ebenezer was admitted an inhabitant of Barnstable in 1691. Otis says he "was a man of wealth and one of the most active and intelligent business men of his time. He was judge of the Court of Common Pleas, and held many municipal offices."

He married first in April 1691, Anna Lothrop, daughter of Barnabus Lothrop, and married second on February 28, 1728, the widow Rebecca Sturgis of Yarmouth. Ebenezer and Anna had at least eight children. Sarah, Susannah, James, Ebenezer Jr., Hannah, Lothrop, George and Nathaniel.

Ebenezer Lewis married Anna Lathrop, daughter of Barnabas Lathrop and Susannah Clark. Married 2nd, after 1691, to Rebecca Sturges.
