About Ebenezer Radford

Ebenezer Radford was the son of William Radford and Jane Ann Carty, of Wexford ireland. He was born in or near Perth Ontario, after his family immigrated there. He is also thought to have been born in Bathurst. He married Frances White on Oct 14 1847 by whom he had the following children, William, Jane, Lucy, Joseph & Elizabeth. Frances and most of these children died. Frances passed away on Aug 03 1858 in Ontario. He married Jane Rose Davidson on Oct 07 1859 in Ontario, by whom he had Joe B ( B was to distinguish him from the other brother that died), Ebenezer " Eben" Jr, John "Jack", Mary-Eliza, James, Elizabeth, Hannah, Isaac & Albert. the family immigrated to the Dakota Territory claiming land near Elkwood ND under the Homestead act. His family later founded the town of Stilwell ND. Ebenezer had a farm with about 80 acres, which his sons farmed, complete with a Soddie. Ebenezer was a blacksmith by trade. He was also said to be a drunkard. Ebenezer and his wife were Weslyan Methodist. He died in 1907 and was buried with his wife in Elkwood.
