Edgar A. King 78 of North Wales died Saturday March 20 2004 in the Mercy Suburban Hospital in Norristown after an illness. He was the husband of Beryl J. (Stone) King. Born Oct. 22 1925 in Ambler he was a son of the late Frank J. and Dorothy (Betz) King. He served in the U.S. Army in the Battle of the Buldge and received a Purple Heart. Mr. King was a grocery store owner who along with his brothers operated the former King & Betz Grocery Store on Lindenwold Avenue in Ambler until it closed in 1978. He then worked as a food processor at the former Spring Poultry in Springhouse. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler. Mr. King was dedicated to his family and loved sports in particular bowling and golf. He was a former member of the Wissahickon Fire Company in Ambler. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Ronald J. King of Pennsburg; a daughter Cindy Fenstermacher of Dushore; granddaughter Amanda; three brothers Richard W. King of Ambler Walter S. King of Lower Gwynedd and Gerald P. King of Hatfield; four sisters Betty K. Manuel of Ambler Elaine F. Benner of Hatfield Marilyn L. Rubincam of Harleysville and Patricia A. Antell of Lansdale. He was preceded in death by five brothers Frank J. Jr. Charles F. Harold L. Alfred L. and Robert King; and one sister Dorothy K. Fleck. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Ambler Ridge and Butler avenues in Ambler with a funeral service at 11 A.M. The Rev. William J. Kemp pastor will officiate. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Prospectville. Remembrances in his name to First Presbyterian Church of Ambler 4 S. Ridge Ave. Ambler PA 19002 would be appreciated by the family.
