About Edith Elizabeth Atkins (Burke)
MY GRANDMOTHER WAS A GREAT LADY. SHE PEELED GRAPES FOR ME WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND PUT HOMEMADE SOUP IN A CAMPBELL'S CAN SO I WOULD EAT IT. SHE WAS A JOKER,SHE HID A RUBBER BUG IN A DRAWER ONCE AND ASKED ME TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF IT. WHAT A SCARE I HAD. WE SHARE THE SAME BIRTHDAY. NOW I DO THE SAME THINGS FOR MY GRANDKIDS.(SUSIE ATKINS FUOCO)
Wow, I am now adding to what I remember about Mama. I always remembered her wearing house coats and Aprons. They were full aprons. When my brother and I would go over there she used to let me drink soda out of the bottle with a straw. It was coke in the green tinted bottle. I also remember her letting me go in her bedroom and look through her drawer that had her hankies in them. They were so pretty. One more thing I remember was that she had this chair/stool that was yellow. She would let me sit in on it or pull the stool part out for me to stand on while she cooked. She was always patient with me. She had flabby arms and I remember she would let me flap the skin on her arms back and forth. I look at my arms how they are flabby from losing so much weight and I look at them and think about her......
Her nickname for me was cricket
