Edith Sarah Nalle

Edith was the daughter of Richard Albert Tilghman & Susan Price Toland. She married Jesse Nalle on 3 November 1886 & they had 3 children. In the 1910 U.S. Federal Census for Radnor, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Jesse and Edith were living with their 3 children, Angela, Richard and Albert. Jesse and Edith had been married for 24 years. Jesse was 54, Edith, 43, Angela, 23, Richard, 21, and Albert, 19. Also living in their home were 4 servants, Nellie Mullins, 22, Nora A. Mullins, 18, Maria, Barrat, 40 and Peter Henry, age unknown. All of the servants were born in Ireland. Nellie was a chambermaid, Nora a parlor maid, Maria a cook, and Peter, a coachman. No occupation was listed for Jesse.

In the 1940 U.S. Federal Census for Whitemarsh, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Edith was a 78 year old widow and living with her was her divorced daughter, Angela Richie (Nalle) Corse, 53, and her three daughters, Diane, 18, Angela Evelyn, 16, and Susan, 10. Also living with them was a maid, Catherine Breslin, 45, from Iceland, a butler, Jacob Wellenrenther, 49, from Germany, and his wife, Bertha, 50, also from Germany, who was a cook for the family. The home in which Edith lived was located on Bethlehem Pike and was valued at $35,000. Her husband Jesse Nalle had passed away in 1914.
