Edmund McVeagh, Sr., son of Ferdinand McVeaugh, was born about 1664 in Dublin? Ireland. He supposedly left from County Down, Ireland in 1682. He left for Philadelphia on "The Amity" from Gravesend, London on 23 Apr 1682. He arrived after a 14 week voyage about 15 Aug 1682 in Upland, Chester Co., Pennsylvania. He was given 50 A of land in Hilltown by T. Holme at the end of his indenture in 1689. He owned land in Moreland Twp, which is bounded by byberry Rd, Pine Rd, Worthington Rd, Red Lion Rd and Pennypack. in 1700. He requested surveys of 25pA from Peter Bainton, 60 A from Silas Crispin and 31A from Silas in Dublin T in 1702. He died in 1739 in Hilltown, Philadelphia Co., Colony of Pennsylvania. He was documented in Minute Book G Pa Archives 2nd Series XIX page 409. He was an indentured servant of Thomas Holme, the First Surveyor General. He was a Co-Commissioner of Phila with Thomas Holme who was friend of William Penn. He was a signer of a Petition to the Assembly. He was the one who probably built Thomas Holme's house on 2nd & Arch. He was referenced in the McVey Qrtly, Vol 5, 1979, pp 1-4. He is found on the "MacVeagh Family Chart", Call # fE7.m249, Newberry Library, W. Walton St., in Chicago, Illinois. He was also known as Edward McVagh. He was found in "Passengers and Ships Prior to 1684" by Walter Sheppard Jr.Pennsylvania Archives Series 2,.

He was married to Allis Dickenson about 1689. Allis Dickenson was indentured to Phineas Pemberton, friend of Wm Penn in 1682. She was with Phineas Pemberton and JamesHarrison on chartered ship "Submission" and set sail from Li... on 5 Sep 1682. She was born in Lancashire, England. Edmund MacVeagh Sr. and Allis Dickenson had the following children:
