No monument was found for him. A monument was found for his wife on the same plot. A monument was found for his sister-in-law, Mary R. Ogden Pendleton, next to his wife's monument.

He was an artillery officer for the Union Army in the Civil War. He married Emily Young.

From his obituary in a newspaper from Berkely Springs, West Virginia, Aug. 2, 1907:
Edmund Pendleton, the oldest living son of the late Philip Pendleton of this place and Berkeley county, died at his home her early Sunday morning. His death was a result of a fall backward sustained by him some days ago and from which he never recovered. His wife, who was a Miss Young, died in New York several years ago. He leaves two children, Edmund Pendleton, Jr., who lives in St. Lawrence Co., N.Y., and a daughter, Mrs. Alfred C. Rowland, of Norton, Conn. Mr. Pendleton was about 67 years of age , was for several years an officer in the 3rd. Artillery, United States Army during the war. Immediately after and since then he has lived here. He leaves two brothers, E. Gray Pendleton, of Augusta Springs, Va., and Mason C. Pendleton of this place and Washington. Mrs. Page, wife of Wm. Byrd Page of Philadelphia is a niece. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon from his late home, and the internment in Greenway Court by the side of his wife.

Condensed history of Edmund Pendleton's service in the Civil War based on records and letters received from the National Archives.

Commissioned as a 2nd Lt., in the 3rd Artillery on Oct. 30, 1861.

Served in the Peninsula campaign at the Battle of Williamsburg, May 5, 1962, where his
was the first battery to engage the enemy.

Served at the battle of Gaines Mill (Cold Harbor) on June 27, 1962.

Was at 'Old Church' and the 'White House' before the battle of Yorktown, April-May 1862.
He served at Antietam on Sept 17, 1862.

He was on a scouting mission to Martinsburg WV when he was severely injured when his horse
fell on him when he was attempting to cross the Potomac River. His nose and palate were broken.
After recovering some from his injury, he was ordered on a recruiting mission to St. Louis,
Missouri about April 1864.

He later was at the battle of Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia. The battle ranged from
May 8-21, 1864. He served under General Burnside.

Through the summer of 1864 he was disabled from illness and was on several medical leaves.
