About Edward William Coles
Ed attended school in Baker, Oregon, then went to Portland at 16 to attend business college. His father became seriously ill and Ed was called home. He was 18 when his father passed away and he took charge of a large farming operation, which included Radium Hot Springs.
Ed began winning grand champion prizes for his cattle in 1910 and for the next 11 years. At that point, the organization made him a judge so someone else would have a chance to win. (Pacific International Livestock)
Founding member: The Oregon Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) was formed in 1913 in Baker County by 12 (5?) individuals who sought to advance the economic, political and social interests of the Oregon Cattle Industry.
He and Ollie Taylor were married 75 years. His great grandchildren remember him for his excellent sense of humor.
