Edward Blannerhasset Eagar born c. 1800 arrived at the Cape 1820 aboard the Amphitrite, Doed c. 1874 - Married in the Anglican Church Cape Town on 4 March 1822 Johanna Catharina Bossert who died in Cape Town 6 July 1878.

"emig. to Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope, Cape Colony, South Africa; he was one of a party of 35 settlers from Co.Kerry, Ireland who sailed on the ship "Amphitrite", arriving Table Bay 1820; led by Dr Nightingale, the party included Edward Blennerhassett Eagar; Elizabeth Ann O'Connell (nee Ross) and her children John, Michael & Annie O'Sullivan.
He was granted permission to remain in the colony 1822; in 1823 he had a retail shop at 31 Longmarket Street, Cape Town; by 1830 he had entered into partnership with Henry Home and others as a merchant.
1855 - Home, Eagar and Co. surrendered its estates due to financial difficulties
1858 - Eagar & Co. were merchants and general agents at Mossell Bay - at the time a seaport east of Cape Town
1864 Edward B Eagar was appointed United States Consul for Mossell Bay
Cape Argus 22 Oct 1874 - "of Wardel Street, Gardens, Cape Town - died 22 10 1874
Married 4th March 1822 - English Church Cape Town, Johanna Catharina Bossert who died 6-7-1878.
Brothers John Eagar and Robert emig. to South Africa in 1824.
