Congregational Minister and Pastor serving communities in Beverly, MA, Providence, R.I., and finally at The Church of the Pilgrims, Brooklyn Heights, NY, from March 1910 to June 1914.

Married Ethel Eames, daughter of Mr. Francis L. Eames, President New York Stock Exchange 1894-1898...son David born January 28, 1916. The following year, 1917, Ethel gave birth to a second child but she and the child both died within hours from Rh blood type complications.

Co-founder of Goodwill Industries of Metropolitan New York.

Principal benefactor behind the founding of "Nantucket Whaling Museum" in late 1920s.
