Edward Riley Hilton, son of the late Riley Clytus and Etta May (Gambill) Hilton, was born on August 19, 1925 in Dry Valley, Missouri and departed this life on March 12, 2014 in Van Buren, Missouri. He had attained the age of eighty-eight years, six months and twenty-four days.

         Van Buren was home to Mr. Hilton. He was a self-employed construction and sawmill worker. During the summers of 1952 through 1957 he built roads in Colorado and in the 1960's he worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Carter County Road Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved to work with his hands inventing and tinkering, including building the first boom loaders in this area. He was also great at math, a welder and ran the bulldozer helping to build the Dry Valley Road. He loved to tell stories of his adventures.

         On August 2, 1943 he was united in marriage to Lillian G. Parrish in Corning, Arkansas.   She preceded him in death on January 4, 2008. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold Ray Hilton and three sisters, Annabelle Fox, May Fox and Marie Ratliff.

         He is survived by one son, Daniel Edward Hilton (Denise) of Hardy, Ark.; four daughters, Janice Keeney (Gary) of Van Buren, Marjorie Voyles (Jim) of Ava, Julia Hilton of Tallahassee, Fla., and Melinda Christensen (Roger) of Van Buren; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing. 

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, MO

Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in the funeral home chapel
