Notes taken from "The Trueblood Family in America" by Bula Trueblood Watson, copyright 1964.

"...He had been disowned in 1815 for neglecting to attend meetings of the Society of Friends. In 1820, Edward was living in Pasquotank Co. with his wife and two sons and his three maiden sisters, Naomi, Annie, and Abigail. He had inherited from his father the homeplace which was between Abel's mill house and mill pond and a mulberry tree which stood near the meeting house (Symons Creek MH).

The old English custom of the girls' receiving only moveable goods, not land, as inheritance was adhered to in this case. Edward, no doubt, thought that his home with a wife and growing children was rather crowded with three "old-maid sisters"; so in a spirit of noble action he sold the three girls two acres of land in return for payment of the only things they owned: "one feather bed and a table".

Edward and Elizabeth Trueblood were farming in Franklin Township, Washington Co., Ind., in 1850; John, Nathan, Elizabeth, Henry and Harvey were still living at home and in the next home lived the 71-year-old sister Naomi Trueblood. Abigail had married and Annie had died in 1845. Edward B. Trueblood made his will in 10-8-1859;(NOTE: THE DATE 1859 IS AN OBVIOUS ERROR SINCE HE DIED IN 1851) it was probated on 3-5-1851." pg 19
