Edward was born 1 of 13 children (12 boys and 1 girl). Born and raised in Lima township, Pepin County. He married Elizabeth Brantner in 1919. To this union 6 children were born.
They farmed in Albany township. They moved to Eau Claire, where Ed did carpentry and road work, and a threshing machine crew with his brothers. About 1940, they owned a farm north of Mondovi, farming. They owned and operated the North Side Bar for 20 years.
In 1969, they took a trip to Europe and celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Three brothers married three sisters (Edward & Elizabeth, John & Barbara, Frank & Julia).
