Manufacturer, machinist and inventor.
Son of Amos D. and Lydia Tracy Allen, and twin to Edward; married 1) Ruth Babcock Noyes December 9, 1833 at Lebanon, Connecticut, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Babcock Noyes [Barbour]. By 1864 he was married to 2) Sarah Chilcoat, the daughter of John R. and Mary Chilcoat.
Children with first wife included Edwin, Charles, and Edward.
Children with second wife included Frank and Addie.
A cenotaph for him is at Windham Center Cemetery.
