William Henry and Eddie (Edwina) Ross Cobb.

UNM owns a very extensive collection of images

from the Cobb Studios, including about 800 images

taken from 1890 to 1942. This determination was

made based on five distinct backgrounds that were

used by the studio and are also shown repeatedly in

the negatives.

Third step, identify the photographer(s). The only

dates listed on the negatives are from 1917 to 1923.

In 1909, William Henry Cobb died and Eddie Ross

Cobb took over the business. Eddie was no stranger

to photography and was the daughter of New

Mexico Territorial Governor Edmund Gibson Ross,

who started his career in politics after being a

newspaper publisher in the Midwest.
