M Coy.</p> <p style="text-align: right;" dir="ltr">30.11.60.</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">The bearer, Mr. E.G.Charlton, aged 61, has been employed in my department as a senior assistant assayer for the past two years.</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">He is retiring of his own aacord from the Rand Mines Group after 46 years unbroken service on the group's various mines where he was for 4 years the Chief Assayer at Welgedacht and for 6 years the Chief Assayer at Glyns, Lydenburg.</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">He has acted as first assistant assayer on many occasions at Harmony and also as Chief Assayer during my absence on sick leave.</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">In all the time he has worked for me he has shown an exceptional devotion to duty that took no heed of the clock whilst work had to be done and his reliability and integrity were outstanding features of all the work he did.</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">Both as an excellent assistant and as a good friend he will be missed intensely by me.  I can only regret that it is not possible to have the advantage of his services in the future.</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">With sincere enthusiasm I can recommend him to any employer who values integrity, intelligence, reliability, and devotion to duty.</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">It is necessary for me to state that the above reference is a personal one.  The Harmony G.M.Coy. does not issue references to ex-employees.</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">Yours sincerely</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">(J.M.Cuming-Smith.)</p> <p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">Chief Assayer, Harmony G.M.COY.</p>
