CRISTALL, Eileen Passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010 at Richmond General Hospital, Richmond, British Columbia at the age of eighty-six years. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she moved to Victoria during the War where she worked to support the war effort while her husband was part of the armed forces. Following the war, they started their family. Moving to Vancouver, Eileen was a homemaker until the premature death of her husband, Harry, in 1963. Following Harry's death, she began an active career through which she met and touched many lives. Following her retirement, she continued her active involvement in the community. One of her more notable accomplishments came through her participation in the pioneering heart smart program for seniors developed in conjunction with the BC and Yukon Heart and Stroke Foundation. She proved that you are never too old to become involved in an active fitness program. As a tribute to the Program and her determination, she continued to go to the gym on a regular basis until just a year ago. She was predeceased by her loving husband Harry Cristall and her son Norman Cristall. She is survived by her daughter Elissa Cristall, sister Ruth Gussin, nephews Morry Gussin and Barry Gussin, nieces Leah Swatko and Marla Allison. Eileen was an inspiration to her many friends. Her determination and strength through out her life set an example for all. Memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation and the Richmond Hospital Foundation
