Elaine Shevin has authored three novels, many articles and countless short stories throughout her productive writing career. Her first recognition came at age twelve, when a teacher published one of her poems in the school magazine. As a young woman, Elaine was a championship swimmer who also enjoyed tennis and dancing. In college, she was so good at sports that she decided to become a PE teacher, going on to earn her Bachelor's degree and Teaching Credential. After graduating, Elaine married a budding screenwriter (Fred Shevin) and soon found herself part of the writing team. Years later, upon her husband's death, she joined the California Writers Club and took up writing on her own. Her short stories have received numerous awards, including the Writers' Digest Award for Something.
Information about Elaine's birth and death was found in the Social Security Death Index.
