Elias Bland, Banker, of London & Woodbridge, New Jersey

Elias' father was a Banker and Goldsmith of Lombard Street, London, who had a country estate at Tottenham, Middlesex. The Blands were related to the Penns and in England they remained active within the Gurney Bank and Barclays Bank Plc well into the late 20th century. Elias and Hannah lived on an estate "Maidwell" (named for the Bland's ancestral home in Northamptonshire, England) near Woodbridge in East New Jersey. She died in England at Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.

Elias Bland (1721-1780) was the son of John Bland and Elizabeth Bland. He was a banker and merchant in London, representing the family's connections with Philadelphia. He married his cousin, Hannah Stamper (daughter of his mother’s brother, John Stamper, Quaker Banker) and settled at "Maidwell" near Woodbridge, New Jersey. He died while visiting New York.
