Elias' father was a Banker and Goldsmith of Lombard Street, London, who had a country estate at Tottenham, Middlesex. The Blands were related to the Penns and in England they remained active within the Gurney Bank and Barclays Bank Plc well into the late 20th century. Elias and Hannah lived on an estate "Maidwell" (named for the Bland's ancestral home in Northamptonshire, England) near Woodbridge in East New Jersey. She died in England at Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.
