About Elijah Grant, Sr.
Berwick to Woolwich and to Palermo. Elijah and 2nd wife Hannah went to Palermo around 1799 on horse back, a long journey at their age. Settled there with son James. Elijah was a member of the Committee of Correspondence for Woolwich during the Revolution. He had a company of Miltia which marched to Rhode Island in 1775. Served at Louisburg in 1745. Cutter of Staves 1778, Selectman 1780 of which he served 7 years. He served 28 years as a Surveyor of Roads. Went to Woolwich in 1743 and built a mill there.
