About Elizabeth Ann Bertram Thomas Brackenridge
Elizabeth Ann lived in Canada during the Second World War. Her father Bertram Thomas took her there from Tangier. She lived with friends of her father in Ottawa, the Owens, returning to England at the age of about 11. On her return, in 1945, she stayed with Peggy Adams and family at Chatsworth Court, Kensington, London before going to boarding school. Peggy helped with packing her school trunk and seeing her off. Elizabeth Ann was still at school when her father died in 1950. Later she lived and worked in London. She later moved to Guildford, Surrey with Bill Brackenridge and their daughter Jane. With Peggy, she attended a ceremony at Avon Villa, Pill, Bristol, in the 1970s when a plaque was put up saying that her father, Bertram Thomas, the famous explorer, was born there.
